Dave Barber
Born and bred right here in Dannevirke, I am deeply rooted in this community where my wife, Michelle, and I have raised our two sons. My journey in the electrical trade began straight after high school, leading to a 14-year tenure with Scanpower where I earned my stripes. Two decades ago, I decided to take the leap and start my own venture. Today, Barber Climate and Electrical has grown into a trusted local business, proudly serving the Tararua District and beyond with a commitment to quality and community values.
Daniel Watson
My journey with the company began in 2013 through a high school Gateway program, working alongside Dave every Wednesday. Those two years solidified my passion for the trade, and in 2015, I jumped at the chance to sign on as an apprentice. Over the last decade, I’ve evolved from handling heat pump installations and rewires to leading solar projects. It’s been an incredible ten years of professional growth and building genuine friendships with Dave and the rest of the team - I couldn't have asked for a better career path.

Meet the Team
Riley Barber
After graduating from Palmerston North Boys' High School in 2022, I joined the team at Barber Climate and Electrical as an apprentice. Having grown up as the child of an electrician, I’ve always had a natural affinity for technology and a hands-on approach to problem-solving. This background helped me quickly find my feet, working on everything from residential power points and switchboards to our latest large-scale solar projects. Outside of work, I’m usually found under the hood of my car with a spanner in hand, or capturing the local car scene through my camera lens.
